What do I need to hire a car with Enterprise?
The essential items you will need to bring to an Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch when hiring a vehicle are:
- a valid drivers licence
- valid ID
- a credit or debit card.
You will also need to prove you are over 25 years of age, and there may be additional documentation required for international drivers.
Can I hire a car with a debit card?
We accept all major debit cards except for Maestro, Electron, Solo and pre-paid cards. To hire our 4x4s and premium vehicles, we require a credit card. All cards MUST have the main driver's name on it.
How much does it cost to rent a car?
Our prices may vary because car hire prices are based on various factors such as, vehicle size, seasonality, length of rental, vehicle make, availability and location. Customers are advised to start the booking process to determine the exact price.
Can I modify, extend, or cancel my reservation?
You can modify or cancel your reservation via our website or mobile app. If you prepaid your booking and you cancel 3 days or more before your specified pick up time you will receive a full refund of the total amount. To extend your car rental, you can click “Call to Extend Your Rental” in our mobile app. You can also call your rental branch or 0800 800 227 to extend your reservation.

Renting a Car at Chesterfield

The Enterprise car and van hire branch is on Lockoford Rd, just around the corner from the big Tesco Extra superstore and about a 14-minute bus-ride from the centre of town (buses 43, 44, 50A gold and 90).
Whether you need to hire a van for a house move or a sedan to tour the Peak District, we have a wide range of cars and vans in all sizes and for all budgets.
Visiting Chesterfield and the area
Chesterfield is a market town in Derbyshire, just 14 miles south of Sheffield and 26 miles east of Buxton in the Peak District, making it a great base for work or holidays in the area.
Take a walk around the centre of town and discover the bizarrely twisted spire of the Parish Church. Commonly known as the Crooked Spire, it gives the leaning tower of Pisa a run for its money!
Visit on a market day (Monday, Friday and Saturday) and buy local produce or hunt for bargains at one of the biggest flea markets in the country.
Places to Visit near Chesterfield
Head towards the Peaks and make a detour to visit Chatsworth house. If it looks familiar, you may have seen it on TV or at the cinema. It’s been Pemberley in the 2005 adaptation of Pride & Prejudice as well as featuring in Peaky Blinders, Jane Eyre, The Duchess, and many other films and TV shows.
There’s lots to see in the Peak District, from wild, rugged landscapes to pretty postcard villages such as Ashford in the Water, Great Longstone, Stoney Middleton and Castleton. Don’t forget to pop into Bakewell and sample the local speciality, the famous Bakewell Pudding, before working off the calories with a brisk walk.
Activities Near Chesterfield
Hire a bike and try out some of the local cycle paths or pull on your hiking boots and explore the walking trails, there are plenty to choose from for all levels of fitness.
If golf is your game of choice, Tapton Park Golf Course is a short drive from the town centre. For a more challenging game, head out to Shirland Golf Course.
There are lots of places for fishing in the area, including Barlow Country Club with its eight well-stocked lakes and ponds.
Things to do with Kids Near Chesterfield
Holmebrook Valley Country Park is the perfect place to spend a day with high-energy youngsters. There are play areas, football pitches, a mountain bike course and a lake as well as a café and picnic area.
Even when the weather is too wet for outdoor activities, there is plenty to entertain children in the area. Older kids will enjoy the 16-lane ten pin bowling alley and for younger children head to The Jungle Play Centre.
