Renting a Car at Stevenage

Local Car and Van Hire in Stevenage

Stevenage initially sprang up as a town in the 20th century to relieve London's overcrowding. However, while it's still a commuter town, it has a lot to offer visitors. As Britain's first place with a completely pedestrianized town centre, you can park your hire car and explore the shops, including the spacious Westgate centre just out of the town. In Stevenage itself, Fairlands Valley Park is a great place to have a break from driving, with its parkland and extensive woodland, lakes and play areas for children. Spending time at the Boxfield Gallery in Stevenage makes for a great alternative to travelling, and you can see works by famous international artists, photographers and sculptors there. You'll also find Stevenage Leisure Park nearby, which has a cinema, bars and restaurants. If you fancy a drive out of town, Benington Lordship Gardens, which is only five miles east, has lovely gardens in a tranquil setting. You'll find the Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch in Stevenage just to the south of the town and very close to junction 7 of the A1M.

Driving Information in Stevenage

Stevenage is easy to access from the A1M (J7) and the town itself is served by several major A roads (e.g. the A602) that make getting around easy. However, when driving in the town centre at peak times, allow a little extra time for your journey. Stevenage has a mainline train station within walking distance of the Enterprise branch. For parking in the town itself, use the car park on Lytton Way, which is the most central.
